Pilbara Mining Diesel: 1.2 Million Litres Cleaned Weekly
At a remote haul-truck fueling site in the Pilbara region of Australia, Trendfuel analyses roughly 1.2 million litres of diesel every week with live ISO 4406 IoT monitoring, while our strategic partner DieselPure cleans the fuel with single-pass SAE J1488:2010 filtration — taking stored fuel from 22/20/14 to 9/6/0.
The challenge
Remote, abrasive, high-volume — the hardest place to keep diesel clean.
The Pilbara is one of the most demanding fueling environments on earth: relentless dust, extreme heat and huge volumes of diesel moving through a single haul-truck fueling site. Tank gauges show how much fuel is on hand, but say nothing about whether it is clean enough to run the injector pumps on a fleet of mining machines.
With roughly 1.2 million litres flowing every week, even a small drift in cleanliness compounds fast — and a periodic lab sample is already out of date by the time the result returns from town.
- Laser particle counting streams live ISO 4406 codes, 4–70 µm
- DieselPure single-pass SAE J1488:2010 filtration in line on the fuel path
- Differential pressure tracked across the filter, in real time
- email and SMS alarms on warning and limit thresholds
- Optional fuel dispensing lockout when fuel is not clean and suitable for use, avoiding costly equipment damage
- 5G/LTE/3G, IoT SIM cards, LoRaWAN and satellite (including Starlink) keep the remote site connected
The approach
Measure it live. Clean it in a single pass. Watch it from anywhere.
Trendfuel instrumented the fueling site so that fuel condition, pump state, filter differential pressure, alarms and live data are securely viewable from anywhere — not buried in a logbook on site.
As diesel moves through the system, our strategic partner DieselPure cleans it with single-pass SAE J1488:2010 filtration — bringing it from an ISO 4406 of 22/20/14 down to 9/6/0 — while Trendfuel's live dashboard proves cleanliness continuously. See the same technology explained on how it works.

The result
1.2 million litres a week, continuously proven clean.
Every week, roughly 1.2 million litres of haul-truck diesel pass through with live ISO 4406 monitoring from Trendfuel and single-pass filtration by DieselPure — adding to the fuel Trendfuel has monitored every week since 2020. The fuel reaching the fleet is verifiably within target, the records are securely stored, and remote connectivity means the site is never out of sight.
22/20/14 → 9/6/0
DieselPure cleans the stored diesel to well below ISO 4406 limits in a single pass, protecting injector pumps across the haul-truck fleet.
